AALS New Technology Blog

Well this is my first blogging experience. I wanted to try this out for a few reasons. One is to find out what all the blog hype is about. Two, to give a forum of discussion for librarians and their staff concerning libraries and technology. And last, to find out directly from all of you what is important or questions you might have. It is my intent to peruse through the various aspects of blogging, and see how I can improve on this. Once that is done, I will try to posts blogs atleast once every two weeks on various library and technology topics.

I will be asking for your opinions, so please give me your insights and opinions.

Thanks for viewing,

Rodney

Thanks for making this blog available, Rod. We're all facing technology issues that we can share with eachother. This will help us learn how we solved those problems and pass that along. I know that this blog will be a good place to discuss tech topics happening in AALS libraries.

Great idea Rodney. We can use this to keep up with what is new and improved. Has anyone look further into the Appolo system that was featured at the fall meeting? I'm one of the few (if not the only) library in the system that is using Winnebago instead of Athena and it sounded real interesting to me, but wondering if anyone else has tried them.
Thanks again Rodney!

Whooo-hooooo! This is my first time posting to a blog. Cool beans! See you next week at the Ailing PCs and Network Disorders workshops -- along with two other staff members at each one. Just want you to know how much we (all the AALS libraries, I'm sure) appreciate the techie service we receive through AALS. You're the best!

Hi everyone, a better option when leaving comments is to choose other rather than Anonymous. It will then allow you to place in a name. Apologize for the confusion.

Hey, you're on! Good job! It will be interesting to watch what you do with the blog--whether to make it just a demo or an effort to post tidbits, tutorials, and other info that can help your libraries work with technology.

Really good idea to turn on moderation. Keep those blog spammers from filling your posts with junk.

Best wishes with the development!

This is a great idea, Rodney! I've always liked your articles in El Nopal and this seems to be a good way to get info about certain technical thingies (that's MY idea of a technical word) when we run into a problem.

We are in the midst of changing providers for our Internet services, but we are awaiting the change to e-mail and website. Any horror stories or words of encouragement about what I may need to look out for (such as losing all my previous e-mails, etc)?
